Handy Chevrolet's Official Blog

Trip Time

What a great day-how often do I start a blog out with that, eh?  Why is it a great day?  For two excellent reasons and the more exciting of the two gets top billing.

(Drum roll?) I finished cleaning my apartment!  The bathroom has been scrubbed eight times and every other surface in the apartment was given at least a quadruple washing.  If you read either of my ranting blogs on the Handy Cars' Wordpress, you'll know my method of washing:

boiling water
a gallon of disinfectant
wash with a rag
scrub with a scratch pad
wash with a…

Chevrolet Cruze and Tim Allen Team Up

In this latest installment of ads for the all new Chevrolet Cruze, Tim the Tool-man Taylor (Tim Allen) reads an open letter to the competition. This TV spot, which began airing last month, is part of a new campaign that touts the efficiency and interior styling of Cruze.

The letter cites auto reviewer's praise of Cruze's interior as raising the bar for the small-car segment and mentions its many standard features - including Cruze?

2011 Chevrolet Spark

Looking much like the Chevrolet Aveo, the upcoming Chevrolet Spark is making more appearances online, and hopefully at a dealership near you next year.

According to Detroit News: Although Chevrolet unveiled the 2011 Spark at the Detroit auto show in January, it was still a pre-production version awaiting some minor changes before it arrives at North American dealerships.

Our photos show lightly modified headlamps, as well as chrome around the grille and a body-colored B-pillar?

The (Preemptive) Evolution of the Cruze

Many companies rest on their past accolades when it comes time to announce a new vehicle.  It seems that the phrase "new vehicle in our lineup" is synonymous these days with "new shell, same build."  I think that's why so many people are observant of the impending release of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze and the Volt, eager to see if in fact Chevrolet and General Motors have what it takes to enter the next…

Site Info and Newsletter Noise

I hope you're all enjoying the newsletter that went out yesterday for Handy Chevrolet.  I also hope you aren't too disappointed that it came out a bit late.  It generally ships on the second Tuesday of each month, but for some reason it was slated for September 7th, for what reason I'm not sure.  Then I had a problem uploading material and subscribers, so it was further delayed three days until it was finally sent to each of you who've been graced by my absurdly talented wordplay? just kidding, I'm not that conceited.  In all…

More Volt Scrutiny (?!)

After writing about the supposed "necessity" for using high octane fuel when gasoline is needed in the 2011 Chevrolet Volt, guess what happened?  You guessed it-yet another bit of rude perlustration surfaced.  And of course this time, just like any other since the Freedom Ride (see Freedom Ride blog) the problem was with gasoline use.

After the high octane fears had subsided, a new round of gasoline-Volt-woes arose, this time regarding the dreaded maintenance mode…

New 2011 Volt Scrutiny Quelled by Chevrolet

If you've read even one blog since I started with Handy Cars since April, you'll know I'm jazzed to see what happens to the Volt.  Also, as a recipient of a coveted bimonthly paycheck from Chevrolet, I'm also admittedly a bit biased in regards to my expectations of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt's future accomplishments.  Nonetheless, you should know I think it's a great idea, and I've consistently backed Chevrolet's decision to launch the semi-EV this year.  From rigorous durability tests on components both standard to the industry and unique to the Volt…

Results of the DDC Treatment

What a blast!  As any of you who read my last blog know, I was one of a select group (a total of 4 that is) that got asked to attend a live broadcast of a Dealer.com webinar, a treat indeed.

I got down there at around 12:30 p.m., and was instantly treated like a celebrity.  That was my first impression of everyone I dealt with, even the higher-ups, and by time I left that sentiment was ten-fold.  Those guys and gals are so laid back; it's really quite a cool and unique environment.  And like…

Chevrolet Volt Gets HOV A OK

The HOV lane in California is normally reserved for cars with 2 or more passengers. But if you are the owner of a plug-in electric car or electric hybrid in the sunshine state, you are about to ride the HOV all alone.

The Governor has granted owners of such vehicles unrestricted access to highway HOV lanes, except you have to wait until 2012. The decision was introduced by a state Senator from San Francisco and?

Chevrolet Cruze Oil Pump Saves Fuel Economy

How does the Chevrolet Cruze hit 40 miles to the gallon without the help of a hybrid powertrain?

According to the Official Chevrolet Press Release: The oil pump in the engine of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze takes a laid-back approach to its work, delivering the precise amount of oil needed during all driving conditions. That requires the engine to work less versus a conventional pump and ultimately saves fuel.

A standard feature in the Cruze?
