Handy Chevrolet's Official Blog

To iPhone or Not To iPhone

I am positive (at least by time you have read this blog) that you've heard the news that Verizon is finally getting the iPhone.  This actually poses a problem for tech geeks like me, because I don't know what phone I'm going to get.  My contract is due for renewal in early March, which is actually good timing for once:  finally, I'll have the full array of phones from which to?

Volt Production On the Rise

So how tired of you are hearing that the Volt is awesome, super-efficient, the coming of a new generation, and so forth?  Further, how tired are you of hearing this hype but knowing that due to the fact that Vermont is years behind the world technologically at times the soonest you can possibly get one from Handy Chevrolet is 2012?

Good news friends:  that date's been pushed up to 2011 in the fourth quarter…

Urban Car of the Year

Well, the votes are in at Decisive Media, and yet another 2011 Chevrolet vehicle has been dubbed any sort of "car of the year."

This time?  Why, none other than the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze of course.

And the award?  How about "Urban Car of the Year?"

That's right:  the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze has been named the Urban Car of the Year, and in this writer's opinion there is hardly a reason that it…
The rechargeable, electric Chevrolet Volt has been named North American Car of the Year. This vehicle beat out stiff competition from auto makers Hyundai and Nissan. 50 automotive journalists from around the country have chosen what they believe to be the top car in North America. In voting, Chevrolet was given 233 points, compared to 163 and 94 for the other two companies.

In the past, the North American Car of the Year is chosen…
GM recently announced that its all new B-segment car will be called the Chevrolet Sonic. This marks the official end of the Aveo nameplate in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.  In other markets, however, the car will keep its original name.

"The Sonic represents a new beginning for Chevrolet in the small car segment and so we felt it was time to give it a new name," says Chris Perry, Vice President, Chevrolet. "The…

Surfing Across the Handy-mobile World

In today's world, there is absolutely no reason not to have a website designated exclusively for mobile use.  According to the website IntoMobile.com, Google.com's search engine, a search engine that corners a whopping 75-80% of the search market, grew by four times on mobile devices in general and by 10 times on its own mobile platform Android.  What this should tell every dealer across the country is one simple thing:  people are searching while they're walking, jogging, riding in a car, or otherwise-for lack of a better term-mobile.  Further, eBay has shown pronounced growth across…
Well, I finally did it!  I've noticed for some time, as in the last nine months that I've been here, that the Handy Chevrolet fan page on Facebook was hitting between 300 and 310 members.  Not bad... not great, but not bad.  We'd like to see more, and throughout 2011 I'm sure that the number will increase; but first it will decrease.  In fact first it will hit zero.

(Gasp!  How…

Would You Like Specials Just for Stopping By Handy's?

For today's blog, I have a very simple question:  would you like to win access to specials that are only attained by stopping into Handy's?  But before delve into the finality of the question and technically pose it, are you familiar with location based social media?

Alright... let's take a couple steps back.  For those of you who may not know the term, social media refers to many programs that I guarantee…

The Volt Is Far From On Our Lot, But Nearing Every Day

The most anticipated vehicle that we are personally awaiting for at Handy Chevrolet this year has got to be the 2011 Chevrolet Volt.  As the name suggests and as you very well know by now the Volt an electric-powered car that doesn't suffer the fate of "range anxiety" because it comes with a combustion engine to take over if the electric engine's generator is depleted.

What is the electric engine's generator?  A?

An Underrated (Safety) Feature

Since our showroom floor was teeming with prospective customers today, my manager asked me to help out with the quick transportation of a 2011 Chevrolet Colorado Regular Cab 4WD with manual transmission today, as it needed to be swapped for a pre-owned 2009 Toyota Camry.  Of course I said absolutely, and why wouldn't I?  What kind of kid/young adult doesn't want to take a test drive in a brand new vehicle of…
