Handy Chevrolet's Official Blog

When I was sixteen years old, I thought sloshing through puddles was excellent fun.  It sounds kind of silly 11 years later, but I vividly remember taking my 1991 Camry, my first car, and slowly getting more and more rambunctious as I toppled deeper and deeper puddles.  My favorite spot, in fact, was right here in St. Albans, Vermont over by Bellows Free Academy:  down at the corner of Catherine Street and Stebbins Street where…

Chevy Sonic one, NHTSA crash tests zero

Let me start today's blog by being super clear:  I struggled with how to word the title of my blog today and didn't mean to confuse anyone.  The title, if you are sitting there, scratching your head wondering what I'm talking about, refers to the Chevy Sonic's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test, or more poignantly, the Sonic's first year in said test.  I'm sure you realize…

Chevy and GM enhance the Volt's battery safety

If you read Chris' blog Should Volt owners REALLY be worred?, you know he's pretty heated about the subject... but what is GM really going to do about it?  Having already issued a press release stating they will buy back any Volt from any concerned customer, but they aren't stopping there.

In today's blog, we look at the new equipment General Motors and Chevrolet are placing on all Volt electric vehicles, which is a more protective battery casing, a tamper-resistant coolant cover, and a better coolant system overall.  Read More and leave us your thoughts via the comments section of the blog.

Should Volt owners REALLY be worried?

The news has been aflame (pun definitely indended) lately with stories - as in made up pieces of fiction - regarding the supposed combustion of the Chevrolet Volt's batteries after a horrific accident.  The problem?  Just like what our sister store Handy Toyota of St. Albans, VT went through, GM, Chevrolet, and the Volt's collective names are being dragged through the mud.  For instance, did you know that General Motors will allow a worried Volt owner to return their car?  Did you know that the Volt batteries that caught fire were sitting for weeks, sometimes months on end, and nobody bothered to turn off the electricity as they were properly trained?

In today's blog, Chris Dugan poses the question:  is it really GM or Chevrolet's fault... or is someone not doing their job?  Read more and let us know your opinion in the comments section.
