More about Handy Chevrolet's Carfinder tool

Are you still having problems with the Carfinder tool?  If so, maybe these tips will help you get the information you desire.  If this mini-FAQ doesn't help, click here to send us an email or call us directly at 888-295-5380 for further assistance.  If you're looking for immediate technical support, do not hesitate to call our webmaster directly at 802-782-5816 either.

  1. Contact Information - we are pretty certain that you will be able to figure out your own contact information, but there is a couple part we would like to point out to prevent any aggravation on your behalf.
    • Be sure to enter information into each category.  If you don't, you will not be able to proceed with the form.
    • The most important thing here is the email box, which of course is not only where the Carfinder notifications will be sent but how the whole process works.  Be sure to keep an eye on your inbox and junk mail folders, because with the advent of the junk mail folder things tend to get segregated mistakenly at times.  You can also add the mail server "handycars.dealer.com" and "handychevrolet.dealer.com" to your Safe Sender list.  Adding us to your Safe Sender list will ensure you don't miss a vehicle that you want, and this is especially important when you're looking for a unique used car!  For help on adding domains to your email provider's Safe Sender list, contact the webmaster by email here or by calling 802-782-5816.
  2. Search Period - using the search period selection you can dictate how long you want your specific Carfinder search to last:  1, 2, 4, or 8 weeks.  The only note worth mentioning is that you are not bound by these criteria.  At any time you can use the unsubscribe link included in each Carfinder email to stop your search.  You can also contact us by email and have our our staff remove your email address from further mailings.
  3. Vehicle Information - to reiterate, this area seems obvious at face value, but to alleviate any problems before they arise allow us to point out a few possible hiccups you may encounter.
    • Vehicle Type - we used to only allow you to choose new or used cars, however we changed that to allow for "New & Pre-Owned" to be a selection.  This will of course give you the most results.
    • Year - depending on your new or used selection, years may be grayed out.  For instance we have a few new 2010 cars still available, and the new 2012 Chevy models just released, so a selection of "New" would allow only these maximum choices.  On the other hand when you choose "Used" you have a full variety of choices from 1995 through the current year.  You can also leave these as "Oldest" and "Newest" which will give you Carfinder emails that fit just that:  our oldest and/or newest models.  Please note the more finite your selection here, the less car notifications you'll get.  Don't miss a gem by this fault!
    • Mileage - though self explainable, please note this will be an unavailable option for a new car Carfinder choice.  In other words, mileage allows you to signify your range for used car searches.
    • MSRP - think of MSRP as "price," although keep in mind that this isn't a guarantee of a vehicle's actual final cost but rather a suggested retail price set by the manufacturer.  The MSRP section is really helpful for those of you who know what you want to pay or can afford as it will eliminate vehicles within your search that don't fit your desired payment.  Better yet, we have a Payment Calculator clicking here.  Similar to the Carfinder tool, the Payment Calculator can help you pinpoint your perfect car by allowing you to enter finance rates, vehicle price, and down payment to yield an estimate monthly payment, or you can enter what you want as a monthly payment and go backwards from there!  Contact us by clicking here for more assistance with the Payment Calculator!
    • Make - as you likely know, Handy Chevrolet of St. Albans is a new Chevrolet dealership, meaning we only carry Chevrolet cars under the "new" category.  But if pre-owned cars are your query, this will allow you to choose a certain make if you were only looking for, as an example, a used Chevrolet vehicle.  If you're just looking for a car within a certain price or mileage range, leave this blank.
    • Model and Bodystyle - the reason we explain these together is that you can only choose one or the other.  You can search for "Bodystyle:  Sedan," or you can choose "Model:  Cruze."  In other words if you're not sure whether you want a new Chevy Traverse or a new Equinox SUV, the selection "Bodystyle:  SUV" would probably help you decide.  Conversely if you know you want nothing but a new Camaro, selecting "Model:  Camaro" would likely get you the best results.
    • Transmission - surely you know the difference between a standard and automatic transmission, so all we would like to add is that any hybrid vehicle - the Chevy Volt, the Tahoe Hybrid, or a used Toyota Prius with continuously variable transmissions still count as automatic for the purposes of the Carfinder tool.
  4. Comments - use the comments box to let us know how to better serve you.  After all our online customer reviews show you, that's what we do best!
  5. Red and Black Text Boxes - the last thing we should point out is the difference between the red and black boxes.
    • Red Boxes - the two red sections mean you have to fill all of these out in order to submit the Carfinder form.  You cannot input only a name and email address but no phone number, as the Carfinder tool will not see that as complete.  The Search Period section can be skipped in a sense, however that will default the Search Period to 2 weeks; this might be too much if you want a car immediately or some such.
    • Black Boxes - as for the black boxes, the more you fill out here the more finite the results will be while filling out all the boxes you can will get you the most specific vehicle emails and results.  Use this info as you see fit to get the best match for your needs!

What will the Carfinder form look like when I get it?


After you submit your Carfinder request, if any vehicles in our new or
used car inventories meets your search criteria you will see a list immediately!


When vehicles do not fit the requirements input into the Carfinder
form, you will see this screen.  This isn't a bad thing however,
as the Carfinder system will still continue to alert you when those requirements
are met in the future for your 1 to 8 week search period.


As shown above, this is what your Carfinder email alert will look like.
You'll notice that there is a listing of all vehicles that match the
search (in this case a new Chevy Cruze), general MSRP pricing and vehicle information, and so forth.
You can click each of these vehicles to go straight to that specific listing on our website, click to play videos, and more!
