More about the CarFinder tool offered by Handy Chevrolet of St. Albans
Serving the Burlington and Plattsburgh area with new and used Chevy vehicles

Are you finding yourself having trouble CarFinder tool, be it a general problem, you're curious as to why it won't let you submit the form, or you want information on making the emails stop?  If so, maybe these tips will help you get the information you desire.  If this mini-FAQ doesn't help, email our webmaster or call the webmaster directly at (802) 528-2127.

Tips for using the Handy Chevrolet CarFinder tool:

 1.  Vehicle information
In order to get the most pertinent email notifications from the CarFinder program, there are two methods of entering information:  broad and specific.  In any of the following areas if you enter less information you will get more; on the contrary if you enter more information you'll get less results.  In other words the less or more information you enter gives you the inverse amount of results.

Here are some of the bits of information you can enter into our CarFinder application.

 a) Vehicle type
We used to only allow you to choose new or used cars, however we changed that to allow for "New & Pre-Owned" to be a selection.  This will of course give you the most results.

 b) Make
First and foremost, the word "make" in the car business refers to brand, e.g. Toyota, Chevrolet, and so forth.  Depending on your initial selection of New or Pre-owned, this may be grayed out.  For example, since Handy Chevrolet of St. Albans, VT only sells new Chevrolet vehicles, "Make" won't be an option.

On the other hand, since our Burlington, VT area dealership sells used cars of all makes and models, if you had selected "Pre-owned" or "New & Pre-owned" as your type, you would see just about any and all available brands, including Toyota and Chevrolet (as is the new car side of handycars.com new vehicle brands, as well as Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Ford, Honda, Nissan, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, SmartCar, and all others.

Finally, if you want to know about every single vehicle we get, you can choose "Any" and get results on exactly that:  any car that comes in fitting the New, New & Pre-owned, or Pre-owned selection above.

 c) Model
Similar to "Make" in just about every way, the only big difference is that you will only see options from the brand you chose.  If you left "Make" as "Any," this option is invalid.

 d) Bodystyle
Again, this only appears if the previous selections have been designated, otherwise ther is not really any criteria with which to work.  One point worth mentioning, though, is that it's kind of silly to choose a Model and Bodystyle; for instance if you had selected "Make --> Chevrolet" and "Model --> Malibu," though, you would still be able to choose a bodystyle but the only style available for a Malibu is obviously sedan.  On the contrary if you chose Silverado 1500 as your model, bodystyle could then be "Any," "Regular Cab," "Extended Cab," or "Crew Cab."

Use the Bodystyle selection or the Model selection for the best results.

 e) Highway MPG, Year, Odometer, and HANDY'S PRICE! sliders
These features are new to the CarFinder 2.0 tool, and once the previous vehicle information from Type, Make, Model, and Bodystyle are fulfilled, you can use these sliders to narrow down your selection.  Please note each slider has a right and left side (or minimum and maximum), so use each side to find the sweet spot where your car would reside.

 f) Transmission
There is little to say here as you surely know what a transmission is, but there are a couple important notes to be made.  In CarFinder 1.0 you had the options of "manual" or "automatic" and nothing else; now you can drill down to specific transmission types.  For the best results, stick with either "automatic" or "manual," however if you're a more specific, automotive-driven buyer, feel free to use the various choices like CVT (continuously variable, such as a hybrid), different speeds, and so on.

 2.  Contact information
Once again, this is quite straightforward - we need to know how to contact you and where to send your CarFinder notifications!  One thing worth pointing out though is the contact information with an asterisk next to it:  first name, last name, contact number, and email address.  The asterisk tells you that you must include this information to submit the form.

The "Comments" field is optional, however it's important to enter information here that you want us to know.  This can be anything at all, like "I'm looking to buy in a month" or "please don't call me, email only."  Basically this comments section allows you to customize the CarFinder form to your liking.

Finally, be sure to notice the optional "Search Period" drop down menu, and be equally sure to select the proper time frame for your needs (as it defaults to 8 weeks).  For 2, 4, 8, and 16 weeks the CarFinder will notify you whenever a car matches your query, however you can always change it by contacting us.  View our privacy statement for more information on this.

As we said this mini-FAQ section should get you through to the end of the CarFinder form with little to no aggravation.  If you are still having issues, do not hesitate to call us at (888) 295-5380 or by sending us an email.
