A few months back, you may have heard about a sweepstakes taking place at Chevrolet dealers where a lucky winner could get a brand new 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, the top of the line model.  When we at Handy Chevrolet of St. Albans, VT and the greater Burlington, VT area heard about this, we promptly set up an entry station and told any and all who would listen to sign up.  You see, we really wanted to see someone in our store win that new Malibu, similar to a young child wishing against fate that the sky would open up and pour down candy-in other words we were all giddy with the slight hope of someone winning this beautiful car.  Hope, you may know firsthand, is something fleeting however, and I personally couldn't fathom that out of the countless people entering the sweepstakes that the winner could be someone from our little town.

You may have read the May 2010 Employee Spotlight of the Month on Handy Chevrolet's website about Mike Bushey, a long time Sales Consultant for our store.  In the spotlight, Mike spoke of a night when he was at Jeff's Main Seafood here in St. Albans, not far from our sister store Handy Toyota, and ran into a married couple with whom he had been discussing their options on a new Chevrolet earlier in the week.  Mike told them he was putting together information on a few models the couple had been interested in, a Malibu in particular had piqued Mary's interests, and also reminded them to be sure to enter the Malibu sweepstakes.  Mary, her husband, and Mike had a good laugh at the unlikely thought of them winning a car, but Mary B., persuaded by Mike whom she worked with previously, went into Handy Chevrolet's showroom and filled out a entry form.

Then a miracle happened-something we had all thought would never occur in our little hometown; Mary B. was picked as the winner of the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ.  This Malibu is packed to the gills:  a year of OnStar service, CD player, leather interior, a gorgeous pearl-white paint, and alloys just to name a few.  As she approached the car on the day she came to Handy Chevrolet to claim her prize, June 19, 2010, that look of a woman still shrouded in possible-disbelief gave way to a grin from ear to ear.

I had a chance to speak briefly with Mary as not to hold her up too long-as any car-winner will tell you or one could assume, she wanted to get into the driver's seat.  Mary has done a lot of business with Handy Chevrolet over the years, which made our staff even happier to have her win her new car.  Her last three vehicles were Chevrolet Impalas and her husband has purchased three Silverados, all six were bought at Handy Chevrolet.  Even better, Mary told me that this Malibu was the car she was leaning towards buying!  What are the chances?  Pretty good, one could assume, considering the Chevy Malibu is a segment leader and one of America's favorite cars.

When asked which car should would have chosen if she were to get a free car of her own choice, Mary says "well I've had a few Impalas, but I really like this one.  I don't know, maybe this would have been the one!" she laughs, clearly enthralled by her prize.  "It really is a nice car," she continues "and I just love the white-it looks so nice!" she exclaims, doing a much better job containing herself than I could have.  I push a little and ask what her favorite feature is on her new car, and as a seemingly very down-to-earth person she chuckles and says "I really love Chevrolet's-but I don't know-I guess it's free?" she tells me, half asking and half stating.

When Mary was questioned about a quote she lives by, she is quick to let us know "just always live life to the fullest, it's just that simple" she says with a content smile.  As a final question for Mary, I asked her which model in the Chevrolet line up best exemplifies her characteristics, and again we can tell she loves her new Malibu: "this one!" she says with a laugh, "it's sporty, and I'm retired-you need sporty when you're retired!"

It was truly an honor to get to be a part of her special day, as I can only imagine the sheer joy of being given a great car like the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, or better yet planning on buying one and then winning one!  Whatever the case, it couldn't have happened to a nicer, more gracious lady, as she was more than willing to allow these accompanying photos, video, and the questions herein.  On behalf of the entire Handy Chevrolet Family, we thank you for indulging us, Ma'am, and we are so glad for you and your husband winning this fantastic Chevrolet.
