Sometimes
life throws you a curveball. You think to yourself I'm middle
aged, I
know what I'm doing with my life, and I'm happy. Nothing could
change
this. However the American economy of late has been a
malicious
mistress, causing many to see change where they never saw it
coming.
Born
in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Jo and his family moved to Vermont about
48 years ago when he was just two years old. Come high school time, Jo
attended Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, excelling in many studies
and taking on vocational training in the field of an automotive
technician, perhaps the first indicator that he would make a stellar
sales consultant and manager some day. Yet another brief look into his
future came at the hand of our current owner Dan Handy, with whom Jo was
friends with when Dan transferred from Swanton to St. Albans, and the
two quickly became buddies.
Automotive
dealerships come and automotive dealerships go. In fact, the qualifier
"auto dealership" doesn't even really apply, because in all truth all
types of businesses come and go. But in that lifecycle of the American
pursuit of happiness that is owning one's business or climbing the
corporate ladder, businesses like Handy Chevrolet that are clearly in it
for the long haul thanks to sound management, skilled and dedicated
staff members, and an ever-broadening array of tools for the customer to
use and learn, some businesses are destined to grow beyond their
current capacities. And that's what Handy Chevrolet's just done.
It
should come as no surprise that during the time of rejuvenation such as
spring in VT that Handy Chevrolet did a little--shall we say--spring
cleaning (?). In order to supplement the ever changing or
ever-strengthening progressive stance that our store is taking with
regards to growth, we deemed it necessary to add yet another Internet
Sales Consultant to the already dynamic performance of last month's
Employee Spotlight, Marc Grenier. Truth be told, a record-setting month
for our dealership didn't hurt either. Enter New Jersey native
Jason Rodriguez, Internet Sales Consultant and overly qualified employee
at that, the newest member of a growing franchise, team, and family,
and this month's spotlight member.
Originally charged with taking photographs of the new Toyota, new Chevrolet, and used vehicles for the Handy Family of Dealerships originally,
17 year old Tyler Barnier of Swanton, Vermont has grown to be just
another piece of an all encompassing puzzle that makes our business so
great. His
pictures were so amazing in fact that we eventually had to switch his
job to something a bit more challenging, and he was made into our You
Tube video creator.
You, the reader, are quite possibly right this very second wondering how this website came to be, or at least how it bloomed into its current state. Due to the meticulous organization and proper grammar, the down-to-earth topics in many of the daily blogs, the multiple types of online media in which Handy's operates, along with all the other venues you may think it is thanks to a full IT team deep in the catacombs of Handy Chevrolet who constantly churn out the great items you see today. But one may be surprised to know that this is all done by one man: the Internet Manager of Handy Automotive, Christopher Dugan.
Just
like you, I can clearly remember being 17 years old--of course it
wasn't that long ago, only 9 years--and I can remember my attitude about
every topic just as vividly. I, like many youngsters, thought I was
invincible, infallible, and all alone in the world; nobody could
possibly understand me, nobody had ever went through what I had to, and
nobody perceived the world around me quite as well as I did. Jeez...
just about everything your
parents tell you when you're that age comes true, doesn't it? Because
as they say, hindsight is 20/20 and you realize most of your angst
was--sadly enough-typical.
Frank Marshall was born in Newark, New Jersey, which any of his
customers could probably tell from the New Jersey-area accent. This
December however marks Frank's tenth year in Vermont and as we all know
by getting through ten VT winters you are officially a Vermonter. It
doesn't help that Frank, Ms. Marshal and his daughter are all engaged in
Vermont's favorite hobby either: hockey, specifically the Saint Albans
Skating Associations girls U-12 team.
What do you think about when you think of a bearded man decked
out in leather apparel and riding a Harley Davidson 65 miles per hour
along the freeway? Further, what do you think when you see that same
man radioing his wife who rides alongside on her own "Hog," equally
trimmed and equally grinned? Does the term Finance Manager come to
mind? If not, then you've never met the likes of Reg Howard, Handy
Chevrolet's Finance Manager extraordinaire.
When Ken Hackett, sales manager of Handy Chevrolet in St. Albans, Vermont, said that Mario Nardelli was an interesting person, it was a flat out lie. Mr. Nardelli is not interesting; Mario is so overly interesting that he's a downright astoundingly fascinating human being. From stories about rock star judges to working every job imaginable, there is so little left to do in Mario's life you'd be surprised to find out he's only middle-aged.
So buckle up for this month's employee spotlights as we delve into a small fraction of that which makes up Mario Nardelli; from his upbringing to his achievements and every where in between. You might think this is a piece of fiction, but no: this is all real; all Mario.
Want to be amazed at an incredible tool set and story list? Check out Mario's full spotlight... just make sure you're sitting down.

John Michael Bushey, or Mike Bushey as he is known to his friends, family, and the numerous customers, has been in the car business his whole working life. He remembers the days when a pack of gum cost a nickel, when high-paid salesmen (yes, they were salesmen at the time not sales consultants) were paid $5 a day, and he fondly remembers those times and the quick change of pace of the present.
Born and raised in Handy Chevrolet's hometown of St. Albans, Vermont, Mike has been a true Vermonter his whole life, living, working, and starting his family here. He loves bowling and baseball and he is a food connoisseur like none other.Read rest of Mike Bushey's employee spotlight from May 2010 to learn more about this Handy Chevy veteran.
